Great place to find some awesome bargain deals! It is overwhelming but that adds to the experience! Must have some bargaining skills but if not, you’d just be generously helping the community that works so hard!
Go with a local & always bargain! Great souvenirs but the so-called brokers waiting just outside the market are to be avoided, they inflate the prices and harass you incessantly. Talk directly with the sellers. If possible, let your local contact bargain for you. A stall selling only one type of product (beaded jewelry, wood carvings, etc.) is generally a good sign. Bring small notes. I bought some beaded jewelry from this Masaai lady (picture taken with permission). She was nice, making the jewelry on the spot and not using any aggressive sales techniques. Trust your gut!
Street market selling little trinkets, clothing and other jewelry. The sellers are quite persistent and will push you to buy their stuff, make sure you're firm with your negotiations and be ready to say No. Most of the stuff here is good quality and cheap, and the clothes are super funky. Had a great time shopping for African print shirts and earrings.
