We had a lovely 3-day visit to this conservancy. Felt much less crowded/more exclusive than the more popular national parks. A great place to see rhinos (white & black) and Grevy’s zebras. Because it’s a rhino conservation area, they optimize for rhinos, eg limit the number of cats and have elephant exclusion areas to protect the trees. Nonetheless, in addition to tons of rhinos & zebras, we also had several excellent cheetah sightings (mama w/ 4 cubs!) and one good lion pride sighting. Also many elephants, antelopes (Grant’s gazelle, dik dik, waterbuck, hartebeest, oryx), ostriches, warthogs, buffalos, birds. Also some giraffes (reticulated) and monkeys, but not as many. The landscape was drier than down south, but apparently plenty hospitable to animals. We stayed at Elewana Lewa Safari Camp (the only accommodation owned by the conservancy) and it was excellent; will review separately. Recommend this conservancy if you are looking for a more exclusive, off-the-beaten path experience that still has excellent wildlife, and in particular for rhinos and Grevy’s zebras galore.
If you want to see the Big Five, this is the absolute best place to do it. The wildlife viewing here is unmatched. We were completely blown away by the massive herds of elephants and how close we were able to get to the rhinos. It truly feels like a paradise for nature lovers.
A beautiful place to visit, especially if you enjoy nature and wildlife. I visited during the Lewa Marathon and had a wonderful experience. The access road is well paved, the signage is clear, and speed limits are well marked. The roads inside can be dusty, but they're accessible and part of the adventure. Seeing wildlife from the roadside was a real highlight. A peaceful place that's well worth the visit.
Lewa Wilderness with One Yoga Global .. a yoga & safari retreat > what a fantastic combination!! Everyday was a new experience.. a dream come true. Seeing wild & beautiful animals living in their natural habitat roaming the vast expansive land. Hard to find words to express this - you just have to experience it yourself!! And to top it off you won’t find more joyful attentive generous staff anywhere. I absolutely loved every minute. 🥰🇨🇦❤️
Beautiful country with well maintained roads and plenty to see.
The annual Lewa Safari marathon (end of June) provides an opportunity to camp in the park for a few nights for a bargain rate and experience the park on foot.
