This was an unexpected surprise in Nairobi. The Arboretum is spacious, well maintained and offers many walking/jogging paths. There are numerous seating areas with benches or to lay a blanket and have a picnic. There's also a play area for children. There are different varieties of trees and plants sprinkled around offering shade on warm days. A little sad I didn't spot any monkeys but I've been told they're around. The event space was also very well put together, there were many tents, a dj booth, tables to eat and relax at and toilets nearby. Overall a great experience and I'd visit again when in the area.
What a nice little retreat and oasis from the hustle and bustle of the city!
There's a nice flow of people that came in and out of the Arboretum on a Sunday morning. Not overcrowded by any means, but you will not be alone. Families, workout groups, couples strolling, solo folks tuned into their music. It's a place for everyone. There's a parking lot if you want to drive, but you can also Uber in easily enough. Multiple entrances.
The environment is peaceful and quiet. You can do loops around on a paved path which has a nice little uphill/downhill regardless of the direction you go. There are also 300-600m trails that are unpaved. I didn't do this time, but those are likely nice too!
Would recommend spending some time immersed a bit in nature. Checkout the indigenous and non-native plants and birds in the Arboretum!
Visited Nairobi Arboretum and it stands out as a calm, green escape within the city. Dense tree cover, diverse species, and natural trails create a cool, quiet environment. You will find joggers, families, and picnics coexisting easily. The monkeys and birdlife add to the experience. Some trails get muddy after rain, but overall it remains a reliable spot to reset.
Nairobi Arboretum is a cool place to spend your own personal time and to get to learn more about nature not forgetting the interaction with baboons 😂it is fun....
Such a serene environment! It is a nice place to take walks, run, excercise, chill or have a picnic! Avoid carrying one use plastics because they contribute to the pollution problem. If you're planning to carry food or water, ensure to package in re-usable containers.
